All-Clad Copper Core 7 Customer Reviews

I started using this set back in September, 2005, and I love it.  It's been a nice addition to my extensive collection of Le Creuset cookware.  I like the set's 8-quart pot because it's large but light.  I love the way my huge Le Creuset pots look, but who can move them around every day?  Although the smaller Le Creuset pots are still my favorites, except for the truly non-stick kind I hate the Le Creuset skillets.  The regular Le Creuset skillets with the black coating inside are completely useless.  I've been happy using the All-Clad skillets, though.  I have an extra 12-inch All-Clad skillet in addition to the ones that came with this set.

The quality is great - after all, All-Clad is made in the USA.  But who in the world came up with this particular combination of skillets and pots?  Two of the lids are the same size.  I like the interchangeable lids better.  Personally, I think the 8-quart pot should be taller and narrower so its lid would also work for the 10-inch skillet.  Other than that, all the pieces in the set are useful.

Cleanup is easy, even after frying on high heat.  Just soak the skillet in warm water for five or ten minutes; then loosen up any large chunks of food by scrubbing for a minute with a plastic scrub brush.  Follow up with some Bar Keepers Friend cleanser and polisher, but get the powder version because the liquid is useless.  It won't scratch the surface of the pots and pans, and they'll look like new again except for the copper strip.  That part looks "weathered" but it looks fine that way so I don't worry about it.  It's easy to avoid water spots - just towel them dry.

My husband gave me this cookware set as a surprise mother's day present!  We had talked about getting it around Christmas, but decided to hold off for a while when someone asked if the food would taste any better with these than it would with a cheaper set.

But after using these a while I can honestly say yes, the food DOES taste better!  These pots and pans cook food so much better than my other cookware.  For one thing, they cook so evenly and use a lot less heat.  I just can't say enough about this set!  If you're considering buying them, I'd say go ahead and do it!  There hasn't been any food sticking to a pan that I wasn't able to remove with just a soft sponge.  I don't have to use any more cooking oil than I do with any other pans, and they're so easy to clean up.  All-Clad's website provides instructions on how to use the cookware properly, along with how to clean them.  I love this cookware and I'm so pleased I just can't say enough about this set!

After buying the 7-piece set we bought the 2-quart saucepan on eBay.  The pots and pans are great for cooking, but instead of sitting evenly on the pans, two of the three lids rock a bit.  I don't know if they're a little warped or what, but they don't make a good seal.  It might seem like a minor issue, but they shouldn't do that considering what the set costs.  We haven't yet decided if it's worth the trouble of sending back the lids for replacement under the warranty.  If you look at this cookware in a store, make sure you check for whether the lids sit flat.
