Can I replace a gas stove with an electric stove?

We want to buy a new stove and have always been a fan of smooth-topped electric stoves, even though most people enjoy the gas stoves better. We have a gas stove currently. Can we replace our gas stove with an electric one or do we have to go with a gas stove?
Hmmmm…Will a voltage tester tell me if I have a 220 volt plug?

You don’t need a voltage tester. A 220 receptacle is about 3" long, and has 3 "odd" shaped holes. It can extend away from the wall.

Does a lamp you have plug in the one you have? If yes, it’s a 110.

You can change to electric, but you will need to have a dedicated 220 volt line run to the area behind the stove. Make sure you cap off (not just shut off) the gas line when doing this.

Why Not? The gas connection has a shut off valve. Shut the valve and disconnect the gas flexible cable and cap it off. It should be done by a license plumber, for safety reasons, but, all you need is a cap and the right sealant. Then check that there is no leak.

PS – I did forget that you would need a 220 outlet for the electric stove and that will cost you just as much as the stove to have put in
