how do you change a drop in stove to a stand alone stove?
My old stove is a drop-in and I want a stand alone stove. Can I just cut the wood in my cabinets at the bottom of the stove?
Without seeing it, I can only guess that the section of cabinets that contains the stove is actually a component of your whole system. If that is the case, you should be able to remove the cabinets under the drop-in and slide a stove in the space. Measure the stove first and check the cabinets to see if you can pull out that section.
If that is not the case, you would have to saw the cabinet out. That might take a little more work, but is possible.

maybe
but hen the gas stub is is usually to high for your new stand alone stove to slide all the way back, so it will have to be lowered, as manufactures leave a low area about 12" or so where you can stub out and they recess the stoves for the gas hook up
